RICKY MOORE JR. LEAVES QUITE A WONDERFULLY MEMORABLE MARK AT ST. AUG'S LYCEUM!!!!

Who's that young lady with the big, bold, mile wide smile?

Great question. Well, I won't release her name just yet (LOL) but I have a little story that I think you'll find interesting. Like to hear it? Here it goes...

Today, Thursday, November 19, 2015 St. Augustine University gave a very warm welcome to Ricky Moore Jr., Owner and Operator of Nyla Elise Clothing also known as Rick MO-6'4, a name that was coined when Rick was given an amazing opportunity to succeed and hone his chops as a WAUG Radio Personality. Rick is always excited to revisit places where someone took a chance on him and St. Aug is such a place. So it should come as no surprise that Rick was completely enthusiastic when he was extended an invite to speak at this year's LYCEUM.

I can tell you that not a single second was wasted. At the very start Rick started throwing Nyla Elise tees to the crowd. Not to a crowd of 20 people, we're talking hundreds, hundreds of St. Aug students leaping for these way cool tee shirts. I know there had to be faculty that was thinking "What is he doing? Who gives out tees at the beginning of a speaking engagement?" Rick does! He's a guy that believes in the importance of "coming out swinging", making an impact from beginning to end and Mr. Moore Jr. did just that.

While throwing out the tees there was one student that tried her hardest to catch one but despite her reach she still was unable to land a tee. She then sat down with a slight disappointment. This did not escape Rick's notice. He called her up to the front, asked her name and went on to share an inspiring story with her. This story was about the days of his company's humble beginnings when he would travel to shows with tees in a trash bag. He spoke on the criticism he would constantly get about the way he appeared lugging this trash bag around. While he understood the feelings that many expressed, he let her know that his focus wasn't on the trash bag itself but on the treasure inside...his brand, Nyla Elise, that he believes in wholeheartedly, so he never allowed himself to be discouraged!

The point being...there are often disappointments we encounter. We try so hard and despite all our efforts we sometimes come up short but don't be discouraged just keep going, keep striving and know that there's something better just around the corner.

That "something better" was about to present itself in less than 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...in the form of a brand spanking new Lenovo laptop still in the box. You already know...the room erupted with cheers and applause and that young lady was completely shocked and thrilled because she really needed a computer but didn't have the means just yet to purchase one. Not to worry. She has one now!!
