IN THE FACE OF INJUSTICE...

"In the face of injustice, to be told to calm down, to not be angry, to not be passionate about it...Is the same as saying BE A ROBOT or BE DISCONNECTED...it's like being told TO NOT CARE & I think we have enough people who have thrown up their hands and don't care anymore and look at the state that we're in due to being disconnected and not caring." #BEAUTIFULECLIPSE

In my wanting to understand those who say things like "Calm down"...I guess the only sense I can make out of it is that to not be calm and to be angry and to be passionate about injustice has often times resulted in violence, riots, looting, destruction of property, etc... which has only opened the flood gates for more people to be hurt and killed by Police, at which point it wouldn't be labeled police brutality...no, instead it would be called "JUSTIFIABLE".

It's hard to hear someone say "Don't give them a reason to kill us." When clearly throughout history it's been repeatedly evident that "they" don't need a reason...other than feeling like it...because after all, There's no consequences.

A friend reached out to me last night after the verdict was read in the FERGUSON case & she said "Did you hear the verdict? God help our Nation."

My passionate response:

It's nothing more than a resounding message that we are hunted with permission...there is an entitlement with shooting our black men where ever whenever...with no consequences, no recourse & sadly it's been that way seemingly since the beginning of time in this country.

It's easier said than done:

to be peaceful in the face of injustice...

to be kind in the face of hate...

to be slow to anger when others are readily evil.

One thing's for sure,

we need only refer to The Civil Rights Leaders & the way that they conducted themselves as a blueprint for how to handle this kind of blatant disappointment.

They combatted injustice:

 with PEACE & INTELLIGENCE

 with COURAGE & UNITY

&

 with LOVE

for not only themselves
but
for future generations as well.

We can never forget God & the power of prayer.

Many tears have been shed, many voices raised and many hearts broken but I still know that we are MAGNIFICENT & no one can take that away from us.
